Coyote University is the overall title for Lance Morgan Loder’s collected works of poetry – a body of work that, when gathered together, may be some forty books. This website is a post-mortem honoring of Lance, built by his friend Christian Swenson with the help of Lance’s friends and family.
Lance began his blog in late 2008 and posted poems steadily until his death in October 2009 from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. His plan was meticulous: each year of his life would yield two books – one of lyric poems, one of haiku – organized in chronological order of composing. The 2008 book of lyrics was titled The Nest’s Edge; that year’s haiku, The Red Fish. He marked each poem with its birth date, writing [b.] for “born,” “begun,” or, as he put it with characteristic wryness, “boo!”
Lance always felt his life purpose was to read, write, and continually learn. He was a prolific writer whose works – shared in small handmade editions with friends and family – will be remembered by all who had the privilege of reading them.
His booming voice, wonderful laugh, infectious smile and unforgettable presence will be missed, not only by his sister Lori, but by all his loving family and wonderful group of friends.

we need each other like water.
